A Nemzeti Archívum Közép-Európa egyik legnagyobb és legkomplexebb audiovizuális gyűjteménye, a magyar történelem és kultúra megannyi fontos pillanatát rögzíti és őrzi különféle formátumokban. Egyedülálló kortörténeti, művészeti, társadalmi jelentőségű gyüjteményi egységei online is elérhetők a nemzetiarchivum.hu oldalon. Legrégebbi részlege a Sajtóarchívum, az 1881-ben alapított Magyar Távirati Iroda működéséhez kapcsolódik. Jelenleg 990 ezer digitalizált belföldi és külföldi hírt, újságot, (titkos) jelentéseket böngészhetnek a történelemre és hírekre fogékony olvasók. A Magyar Rádió 1925-ben indult, amelynek kezdetben nem rögzítették a műsorát. Mára a Rádióarchívum mintegy 800 ezer hanghordozót öriz, ehhez szervesen kapcsolódik a Kottatár 40 ezer darabos állománya. A magyar televíziózás 1957-es indulása idején létrejött Mozgóképarchívum művészet-, társadalom- és technikatörténeti jelentőségű, számos felvétel egyetlen létező példányát őrzi, összesen kb. egymillió műsorszámot. A Nemzeti Archivum fotográfiatörténeti szempontból meghatározó gyűjteménye a Fotóarchívum, amely 13 millió képkockát számlál, magába foglalja az MTI és jogelődei által készített negatívokat, illetve a 2000-es évek óta digitálisan készült fotókat. A Fotóarchívum munkatársai azon dolgoznak, hogy az állományt kereshetővé, elérhetővé tegyék az utókor számára. A Fotoarchívum képeit 1993-ban védett muzeális gyűjteménnyé nyilvánították. We are delighted to invite our readers on a visual journey offering an exciting insight into the Image Library of the National Archives. The National Archives is considered one of the largest and most complex audiovisual collections in Central Europe, capturing and preserving many important moments of Hungarian history and culture in various formats. Its unique collection units of historical, artistic and social importance are also available online on the website nemzetiarchivum.hu. Its oldest department is the Press Archive, which is related to the operation of the Hungarian Telegraph Office founded in 1881. Currently 990 thousand digitized Hungarian and foreign news, newspapers and (secret) reports can be browsed by readers interested in history and news. Hungarian Radio started its operation in 1925; in the beginning, its programme was not recorded. Today, the Radio Archive stores about 800 thousand audio storage devices, with the 40 thousand pieces of the Sheet Music Library as an integral part. The Motion Picture Archive, which was established when Hungarian Television started broadcasting in 1957, stores a single existing copy of a number of recordings of artistic, social and technical importance, with a total of approximately one million programmes. The Photo Archive is the most important collection of the National Archives in terms of photographic history, counting 13 million frames, including negatives made by MTI and its legal predecessors, as well as photos taken digitally since the 2000s. The staff of the Photo Archive is working on making the file searchable and available for posterity. The photos of the Photo Archive have been declared a protected heritage collection in 1993.
