The Ca Mau Shipwreck (1723-1735)

Ca Mau, the southemmost province of Vietnam, is located 350km south of Ho Chi Minh City. It is surrounded by seas on three sided and shares common borders with the provinces of Kien Giang to the North and Bac Lieu to the Northeast. This geographical position togcthcr with its tropical monsoon environment creates suitable conditions for agriculture, forestry and fishery. The processing industry is particularly well developed. The opening up of Ca Mau by Vietnamese settlers was first initiated in the late 16th early 17th century.
